HIV Prevention Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:

Plans, coordinates and implements Identity's HIV and youth development programs for Latino youth, based on the Positive Youth Development model; and HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral (CTR) services to Latino youth and adults. Liaises with HIV prevention stakeholders on behalf of HIV program clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports organization's mission and values.
• Works as a collaborative team with peers, colleagues and staff, including participating in meetings, retreats and events in activities that support youth development and HIV prevention.
• Coordinates and organizes meetings with HIV prevention stakeholders.
• Develops positive relationships with youth and adult clients.
• Plans, prepares and implements a variety of programs that may include: HIV Prevention Peer Educator groups, CTR across several sites, HIV testing events and mobile outreach. May facilitate in a variety of times and locations.
• Works as the HIV prevention and sexual health specialist that is imbedded into a youth development team at a drop-in Youth Opportunities Center.
• Builds and maintains relationships with key HIV prevention stakeholders.
• Recruits Latino youth and/or parents for programs and works diligently to maintain them in same.
• Prepares materials for planned activities, including planning and organizing special events.
• Maintains proper data for documentation, evaluation and program purposes.
• Provides crisis intervention and conflict mediation; coordinates social services as needed.
• Follows-up with program referrals and ensures that client needs are met.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor degree
• 3-5 years of experience with youth and adult programming in non-profit organizations, NGO or related environment preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both, English and Spanish
• Excellent planning, organizational skills and time management
• Effectively facilitate group and individual sessions with youth and adults
• Empathetic demeanor and knowledge of youth development and HIV prevention fields
