Our History

Identity is a nonprofit organization established to serve the needs of Latinos in the Washington, DC metropolitan area since 1998. As we grew, more and more of our clients were located in Montgomery County, Maryland prompting us to also move to the County in 2003.

With our move to Montgomery County, Identity “hit the ground running.” We have been a consistent source of hope and real time assistance for those Latino youth most in need of support.  Partnerships are a critical part of our work and we continually reach out to the general public, the County, and the broader Latino community to expand and enrich the benefits and opportunities for Latino youth.

In the near future we plan to expand our main facility to accommodate the additional training, meeting, and after-school gathering spaces that our programs require. This expansion has been made possible by the generous gift of attorney, James Clifford, of the law firm Clifford, Debelius, Bonifant, Fitzpatrick & Hyatt, who donated a 2,900 square foot, two-story house to Identity, in close proximity to our main office in Gaithersburg.  The house will be transfered to the lot behind our main office, nearly doubling the space available for programs and administrative needs.

Shortly after the announcement of this gift, Identity's Board member, architect Gabriel Romero, prepared the architectural plans for the move and renovation on a pro-bono basis. We are now poised to move forward and are currently seeking opportunities to raise the funding for the move and renovation of the donated building.
