Help Meet the Moment and Get Involved

Like an extended family, Identity is there when and where the community needs us. And like family, we offer help when something extra is needed. Right now, while many neighbors really need something extra, others are asking how they can help. Here are some of ways to get involved. 

Help grow Identity’s community of allies by hosting a small group of friends, family or neighbors, virtually or in person, for an update on the community, how Identity’s work has evolved, and how neighbors can support neighbors. Email communications@identity-youth.org to get started. 

Bear witness and encourage your friends and family to stay engaged with the news. Difficult and traumatic as the information and stories are, we have to face them, not turn away.  What we see propels us to action. What we don’t see can be ignored.   

Use your voice. Local elected officials listen when their constituents speak up. Asking them to protect the safety net for very vulnerable residents is an act of care for your neighbors. Contribute to Identity’s LIFT Fund and invite others to do the same to meet our goal of raising an additional $100,000 - $200,000 to respond to the skyrocketing need for short-term financial relief for Identity clients facing truly extraordinary crises or hardship with the support and guidance of an experienced Intensive Case Manager. The LIFT Fund was created in 2019 in honor of Identity’s Co-founder Candace Kattar to ensure her legacy of never giving up on a client in need and so children continue to learn, grow and thrive, even in the toughest and most unstable times. 

Support our new and gently used winter coat, hat and gloves drive to help families stay warm this season. Priority is given to clients of Identity’s Case Management program and in Identity-managed high school-based Wellness Centers. Clean and gently used items may be dropped off December 1 – 12, 9 am – 5:30 pm at our HQ at 620 E. Diamond Avenue, Suite K, Gaithersburg, MD 20877.
