Identity is preparing for Summer 2025 programming, offering students and families a season packed with fun and enriching activities! We see summer as our growing season, with programs designed to increase school connection, build social-emotional skills key to success in school such as self-management and decision-making, and decrease academic summer slide.
Throughout July, Identity children from Harriet Tubman, Whetstone and Gaithersburg Elementary schools will work on STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with hands-on activities thanks to a partnership with KidMuseum, which has trained Identity staff to teach STEM concepts in a fun and interactive way. The students will also participate in team-building, sports, and other activities designed to build social-emotional skills and positive social connections, topped off with enriching field trips like to the theater, a petting zoo and nature hikes.

A group of Identity middle schoolers will gather at the Gaithersburg Youth Center for leadership skill building and emotional support groups plus lots of sports, fitness and enriching field trips. Parent workshops will continue over the summer for elementary and middle school participants, including a special series teaching parents hands-on STEM activities to do at home with their children.
The six Identity-run High School Wellness Centers, which are open all year, are focusing on social-emotional skill building and therapeutic activities like behavioral support groups, gardening, hiking, art therapy and special excursions to the beach and an adventure park –outings that most Identity youth don’t get to experience. There will also be opportunities to be physically active at County Rec Centers and Planet Fitness without cost.

Taking advantage of the long summer days, Youth Opportunity Center staff will bring workforce development programs and case management services for older youth and families to neighborhoods like Damascus.
Identity’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people to develop the skills and relationships that will help them grow and achieve their full potential.
